Born in Zhongshan, Koo Tak Ming left St. Paul’s after his sixth year in 1972. A writer, translator, and editor, Koo had been part of the administrative/translation staff at the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He was the editor-in-chief of Ming Pao Monthly (1989–91), and has edited Benchmark and Readers’ Digest (Chinese edition). He has also been a columnist for Ming Pao and am730.
Koo’s commentary covers language, culture, and politics. Koo is known for having a direct and observant style. He has often pointed out mistakes in both Chinese and English, paying special attention to how language is used and written.
During his years at St. Paul’s, Koo was an editor for Scope.
