Tsang Tak Sing graduated from St. Paul’s College in 1966. He was a journalist for over thirty years for the New Evening Post and the Ta Kung Pao, once serving as the latter’s chief editor. He has also held public office, including as a deputy to the National People’s Congress (1988–2008), a consultant for the HKSAR’s Central Policy Unit (1998–2007), and home affairs secretary from 2007 to 2015. His older brother, Jasper, also studied at St. Paul’s.

Within St. Paul’s open environment, Tsang read broadly and had been the founding secretary of the Astronomical Society. While working as a journalist, Tsang supported Hong Kong’s return to the motherland.
