Class of 1972 - The First Expert on Infectious Diseases of Hong Kong

1972屆畢業 — 香港首名傳染病明醫

Lo Wing Lok entered St. Paul’s College Primary School in 1961 and graduated from St. Paul’s College in 1972. As an expert on infectious diseases, Lo came to the public's attention during the 1997 avian flu outbreak. He suggested culling chickens to stop the spread of the disease, which helped stop it from getting worse. From 2000 to 2004, Lo was president of the Hong Kong Medical Association and served in the Legislative Council (Medical Functional Constituency).

Inspired by the College’s spirit of service, Lo made the decision to branch out into infectious diseases, a rare specialty; when he returned to Hong Kong from Britain, he was the city’s only such specialist. Lo’s service extended beyond the 1997 outbreak; he also gave advice during the 2003 Sars outbreak and the 2009 swine flu outbreak. He was appointed JP in 2003.

Lo had also served on multiple government committees and was a columnist for Oriental Daily.
