Stephen Ip graduated from St. Paul’s College in 1968. With over thirty years in the civil service, his portfolio is vast and varied. Ip specialised in growing the city’s economy, having served as financial services secretary from 2000 to 2002 and economic development and labour secretary between 2002 and 2007. He was awarded the GBS in 2001 and was appointed a non-official JP in 2007.
After retirement, Ip explored his other passion — food. Today, he is known for his culinary reviews in various publications and as an occasional food show host.
A committed autodidact, Ip has always sought learning opportunities beyond the classroom and is a self-taught solicitor.
