Thomas Soo entered St. Paul’s College in 1956 and graduated from the sixth form in 1965. He was ordained by the Sheng Kung Hui in 1979, consecrated in 1995, and was Bishop of West Kowloon from 1998 until his retirement in 2011.
Beyond the church, Soo has served many community roles, including as an honorary adviser for the YMCA of Hong Kong, chairing the Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital’s governing committee, chairing the Hong Kong Christian Council, being a fellow and supervisor of the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association, and being on the government’s post-release supervision board and performing arts committees.
While at St. Paul’s, Soo was active in the College’s Christian Union, organising activities under the College chaplain’s guidance every Friday. He currently serves on the College council.
